Another scammer . . .

Here is a follow up email from the previous one:

You want to hear something wild. Chris is not the first one in the scam to contact us on the truck. The First one came in August from someone who calls themselves Ketty Debra06 email address: kettydebra07@live.com. My husband didn’t tell me about this one, because he never responded after the second email from this person. I found it when I was cleaning up his in box. My husband over the weekend ended up telling Chris Palmer to F-Off. Then he re-listed the truck. About 2-3 hours after he re-listed the truck we were contacted by yet another individual in this little scam ring of madness. Name: Giovanni Gibson: email address: giogibson16@live.com. So all in all, we got hit three times on the same truck with the same scam. Sheeesh. Thank goodness we never fell for any of this. I will not bother you with this anymore. I just figure, the more email address put out there that they are using the more people are aware and hopefully protected.

Can you explain to me what these scams are that everyone is discussing? I posted an item for sale on Craigslist and was contacted by a Giovanni Gibson (email: giogibson3@live.com) to purchase the item. I haven't replied to him yet. Wanted to know if there's anything I should be aware of. Thank you!

You should only be worried if they do not want to see the item in person, do not want to meet with you and are sending a bank check and having a moving company pick the item up.

The bank check will be for more than the asking price and they will want to wire you the difference.

Thanks, Giovanni Gibson just tried to buy a painting from me without looking at it! Would have sent it if it weren't for you.

Giovanni is trying to do the same thing with me for a set of speakers, wanting to buy without seeing and having a moving company get them. Is the check he sends not good or is it cashable and then he changes it later? I don't see how he comes out ahead unless the check is no good and you wire him money for the shipper. If this is a scam how do we nab him?

Thanks to all for posting this information. I posted an item for sale on Craigslist, and I received a similar message from Giovanni Gibson whose email address is giogibson3@live.com. I was only mildly suspicious but still thought I would check it out. Before responding, I always search a name on Google as well as in Superpages.com or yahoo phone books. I did not find anyone in my viscinity, but I did find this chain of comments, so I did not respond to giogibson. I feel compelled to let people know that gio and team are still out there. Thank you all again.

last night this "giovanni gibson" person tried the scam on me with the same generic email sent to two of my craigslist postings at the same time....yeah right no thanks buddy...get a real job like the rest of us! this is the address i had giogibson15@live.com

We too were contacted from Giovanni Gibson on a craigslist item. We must be number 18 in his e-mail. He also used the same exact e mail as has been posted by others. Has anyone contacted the FTC to report him. Did anyone else get contact information in there state? He sent a check thru fed ex for four times the amount of the item. He then sent two identical e-mails asking to have the excess money sent to his shipping company via moneygram. If anyone has any information on catching this ass please leave a comment.

I also received the generic email from Giovanni Gibson [giogibson1@live.com]. It was his second. The first read, "Hi, I saw your listed item on craigslist web, i will like to purchase it today so get back to me if it`s still available for sale.
Best Wishes"

Of course, the 2nd email had scam written between the lines. I immediately googled his name and found this post.

Thanks!

Same scam again today with Giovanni Gibson (offered to buy something off of craigslist very urgently, sent a check that I was to pass along to a shipper, etc...)....DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH HIM.

Thank you for putting this info out there...we too were contacted by Giovanni Gibson for an item we had for sale on CL - this would explain why his email was filtered by our email server as "spam."

Thanks for this information. I received an email from this crook less than 6 hours after posting a snow thrower on Craigslist Chicago, Giovanni Gibson giogibson4@live.com
"Hi,
I saw your listed item on craigslist web, i will like to purchase it today so get back to me if it`s still available for sale.
Best Wishes"

I too received a reply from this guy (now 2009). His reply a copy of everyone elses.

"Hi,

Best Wishes"

I copied all the comments on this page and used them to reply to him.
Will see if any response now...must know that he's a crook.

Thanks so much for your post. I had listed a bowflex bench and weights when this Giovanni Gibson emailed me. I replied saying it was still available and unfortunately included my phone number but something seemed odd so I googled and found this. I sent another saying he would have to pay in cash at the time of pick up, but I have a feeling I wont be hearing back. Thanks again!!!!

Thanks for this post. I had a workbench listed on CL and received the same email wanting to purchase the item. It seemed a bit fishy to me and so I Googled his name. My Dad was actually scammed by someone doing exactly this last Fall for the purchase of a dining room table. Thankfully he didn't lose money in the process but it was a lesson learned.
This was the email I received from iogibson23@live.com

Thanks again for putting this information out there.

March 28, 2009... San Diego, CA. Chris Palmer wants to buy an item I have on Craig's list. A gut feeling told me to Google his email address first.
segno12@hotmail.com...Gee he's famous...I'm flattered. If this scam is his full-time job, there must be a lot of suckers out there..Thanks for taking the time to warn us

Same thing here for my patio set. Same email address, same "line" that didn't work. This just a few hours after another guy tried the same thing, but with the email address: neilschaeffer@hotmail.com whose was more elaborate than giovanni's crap. Thanks for the site of info on these guys!

Well this guy is a real piece of work. We have been in corrispondace with Giovanni and were a little leary about the way he was handling things. I am so thankful for all of you that have posted here. On craigslist was my high end pool table and accessories and since we are moving and need to sell we got excited with his offer. Is there anyway to report this guy. I am so glad for people like you willing to speak out. You saved my ass.

Thanks for all the posting. Just curious, for the people who received the check, what happened? Did any of you try to cash it or just tear it away? Did you email the guy to tell him that you changed your mind about selling the item to him? And did him respond back with any threath or just disapppear?

Giovanni is still active today in a response to my new Craig's listing.
I'm grateful to have come across this compilation of others who became suspicious, so I won't even reply to that first e-mail that is exactly as the others listed here.
Also grateful to Google for making it so easy to find this out!

new to Craig's List

This same person contacted me about an item I had for sale on craigslist. After googling his name and reading the information on this blog I promptly sent him an email stating that he has been identified as nothing but a scam artist and any further contact will promptly be reported to federal authorities for immediate investigation.

I was contacted by this same individual / same name & email about an item I had listed on craiglist. Since googling his name and reading these posts I have since replied to his inquiries advising that he is nothing but a scam artist and any future contact by him will be immediately reported to federal authorities for appropriate action.

This person (Giovanni Gibson / email giogibson3@live.com) continues to contact sellers on craigslist (including myself - 04/2009) under the guise of wanting to purchase "immediately". Sellers beware of this scammer!

Giovanni Gibson is still trying to scam people. His grammer was so bad that I at first thought English was not his first language. This may be part of his scam. He wanted to purchase my jeep without viewing it first. Thankyou for this blog, it saved me from what may have been a real disaster. The e-mail he contacted me with is giogibson@live.com. Watch out for him!!!

Thanks for posting this. I always check via Google before answering suspicious craigslist ad's. He just contacted me and I deleted it.(for a flute)

Mr. Chris Palmers has changed his game up. He is now selling items and waiting for those to message him. I am very leary about craigslist and only do local transactions. He insisted he was in the UK on a business trip and really wanted to get rid of the item. He then told me instead of me picking it up he would ship it for free. I wasn't about to spend money on something I haven't seen. So, i told him I would pay as soon as the shipment arrives. He sent it via (www.lpw-express.t35.com) which to any computer literate person would immidiately identify as a scammer site. The email he is using now is Chispalmers@yahoo.com. This guy is pretty good at this. I hope this informs more people about his tactics.

Chris Palmer is apparently pulling a lonely hearts scam on Face Book now. Sent a message to my wife wanting pictures to see if they "needed each other". Yeeesch!!

Anonymous said...

Here's a copy of the message he sent:
Hello. I am very glad that I found your profile on here. I've read about you,you really caught my attention...not explainable, but the fact I felt for you! You could write me an email to my email: segno14@yahoo.com
If you write, I'll tell you about myself and send photos. So we can understand whether we need each other. I'd be happy for your attention

He is obviously back at it again! He tried the lonely hearts act with me on EHarmony a few weeks ago. Started off rushing things, saying he wanted to marry me as I was his dream come true.....said he lived in Miami and travelled to London as his business is there and his mother supposedly. Said his father died and left company to him to run.....thank god I am a smart woman and asked many questions.....I looked up where he said he lived in Miami Garden area, his mobile went to a Google subscriber voicemail everytime I tried to call, his company name brought up some very low end company site......things weren't adding up. Said he wanted to take care of me, etc.....and then when he was supposedly in London on business.....he had a horrible meeting with regard to an investment and he started asking for money. Well, I didn't have any literally to give. I began more research and this site finally ended any doubts from this smooth talker. He is aware that I know he lied and scammed....he had NOTHING to say about it. Here is the supposed mobile number he gives out: (305) 707-1565. Maybe it should be traced, passed on, or blown up with messages! I gave him a chance to explain the truth, but he didn't find it important! I find it important to add this to the rest of the deceitful things he has done!
